A new study from Stanford Law School reveals that AI models like Google Gemini 2.5 Pro and NotebookLM provide better responses than many law professors when assisting students outside of class.

In nearly 3,000 blind comparisons, faculty members preferred AI-generated responses 75% of the time, deeming them more beneficial for student learning. The study compared answers to real contract law student questions, demonstrating AI's ability to synthesize complex legal issues, recognize nuances, and construct understandable explanations.

Notably, less than 4% of AI-generated responses were considered 'detrimental to learning,' compared to 12% of those drafted by professors. Researchers suggest this is partly because AI tools tend to produce more structured, complete, and tutorial-appropriate answers. Apple has announced a delay in bringing new Siri AI features, introduced with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, to users in the European Union (EU) due to the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Apple explained that while they are introducing an entirely new version of Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence, EU regulators did not accept any of Apple's proposed solutions to safely support other virtual assistants while preserving privacy and security, making EU deployment impossible. Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, expressed deep disappointment that EU users will not have Siri AI on iPhone or iPad.

Apple emphasizes that Siri AI is designed with privacy in mind, utilizing on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute. However, the EU regulators' interpretation of the DMA would require Apple to grant other virtual assistants nearly unlimited access to users' private data and the ability to directly control installed applications without essential protections. Apple proposed a solution called 'Trusted System Agent' to ensure user safety, but the European Commission rejected it.

This delay means EU users will not have access to advanced Siri AI capabilities in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, including a dedicated app for revisiting conversations, an expanded Visual Intelligence experience, integrated writing tools, and Siri mode in Camera. However, Siri AI will still be available on macOS 27 and visionOS 27.
